Background to KPSN
KPSN continues to develop and evolve since its creation in 2008. The partnership has originally grown from five public service organisations supporting some 900+ sites to 27 user organisations with 1352 connected sites across the region.
The KPSN Partnership successfully develops and promotes shared services and was one of the first partnerships to aggregate connections into GCSx/GSi, now PSN. Working with the Cabinet Office, Hampshire County Council and suppliers, KPSN tested the technology and services that support PSN.
KPSN provides a number of services to its partners including internet access, commercial internet services for traded services and remote access. Its geographical coverage facilitates shared services such as regional data centres, SIP trunking, 2 factor authentication and mobile roaming via its public sector roaming service called govroam.
KPSN reduces the cost of public services and successfully delivers multiple networks over its infrastructure with interconnects to adjacent PSNs. The KPSN Partnership has also been successful in enabling the de-duplication of connections into multi-agency buildings again reducing the cost of connections and acting as an enabler for wider shared services.
